Young Medical Scholars Club is a club at Nuview Bridge that helps students learn and gives opportunities that can help students gain more knowledge about medical topics/careers. Throughout the school year, YMS gives us opportunities to visit colleges. In the second semester of the 2025-2026 school year YMS gave their members the opportunity to visit The University of Southern California. USC is a well-known college with strong medical programs. It gives students many chances to learn and grow. Visiting USC helped us see what college life is like, even if some are not planning to go into the medical field.
When arriving at USC we were immediately mesmerized by the beautiful campus, with its large brick buildings, tall palm trees, and clean open walkways that made it feel welcoming and lively. It was nice seeing so many college students walking around, studying, and talking with friends. It really tied the atmosphere and got us excited for college life. Before meeting our tour guide, Mr.Jobe our director of the club and science teacher at the Bridge gave us a few fun facts and short stories on his experiences as he was once a USC student.
After exploring on our own, we met our tour guide Koi who helped us learn more about USC. Koi is a business major, he was very informative and welcoming to our group. He shared interesting facts about the campus, student life, and different opportunities USC offers. He also talked about his own experience as a student, which helped us understand what college is really like. Throughout the tour, he made sure we were comfortable and even told some funny jokes which made the experience more enjoyable and memorable. Throughout the tour many students would say “Fight On” to us, it really made us feel the school spirit USC is known for.“Fight On” is USC’s famous motto meaning to keep going and never give up, and it has been part of the school’s tradition for many years.
Of course, field trips are for educational purposes, but that does not mean they cannot be fun too. Many of our students had an amazing time and a great experience during this trip. Even though the bus ride was long, everyone made sure to make the most of it.
Overall, our trip to USC was both educational and memorable. We learned more about college life, different majors, and what it takes to reach our future goals. The campus, the students, and the school spirit made a strong impression on all of us. This field trip reminded us that with hard work and determination, college can truly be part of our future.
