Have you ever wondered how some people deal with the changes from going to a regular middle school to a high school that also does college at the same time?
Well, I interviewed Mya Mora about this topic and she responded with how she dealt with this change. The first question I asked her was “How did you prepare mentally for the amount of work you were going to have to do which differs from regular middle school work?” To this she answered, “I mentally prepared for the change in work by making sure that I did my work as soon as I could so that it wouldn’t pile up on me.” Making sure your work is done before its due date is always helpful in the long run. Here, Mya used this as an advantage to help her get ahead and complete her work on time. Many people struggle with procrastination nowadays but doing your work instead of something else like going on social media can help you get better grades in your classes since you get your work done first things first and on time. Putting what’s most important first can give you less worries as there is many other things to complete.

The next thing I asked her was about what she was looking forward to in college and the upcoming years. Mya replied by saying, “I’m looking forward to the new classes I will get to take and the other opportunities that will present themselves later on.” Going to a high school that provides and prioritizes college classes is a big advantage for many students and can help students get what they need at a quicker pace than others. Here at the Bridge, students use this advantage to try to finish college at the same time they get their high school diploma. This can prepare students for jobs earlier on as they have the experience and requirements needed for the job. As students get schooling for both high school and college they are able to learn things quicker and learn to manage time simultaneously. This high school experience also prepares students for when they want to take more college classes in the future as they are already experienced and know what to prepare for.
