A Real Estate agent is a person who helps people help sell or buy a home. There are a lot of inner workings that occur in this industry and how to run a successful business. Finding helpful information can be hard and for some people may need guidance on the reality of this job.
I interviewed Angelica Palacios who is a Real Estate agent to help some people who are interested in this job or want to know more about starting up your own business. Angelica has been doing Real Estate and owned her own business for 4 years.
What made you decide that you wanted to create your own business?
“I did not want to go to college but I knew I had to do something with my life so that was my only other option.”
To start a business it takes a lot of time and dedication and each person may experience something different then another person starting their own business in Real Estate.
What were some ups and downs you had or have with starting your own business?
“The biggest up is you can make whatever life you want, you get out what you put in, so if I don’t want to work then I don’t make any money but if I work a lot, smart and hard and I build an actual business, there is not limit of how much money I can make, which is the beautiful part of Real Estate. Also just entry level it didn’t cost much to get started, maybe 300-1000 bucks, spent in licensing and other fees. Some downs would be the amount of doubt I went through because I was so young in the industry, and not knowing anybody in my circle.”
This shows how it may not be as glorious as many may show and each person goes through their own rough patches but also how it can be a really great thing if you put the work in.
What would you have wanted to know before starting your business?
“ I wish I would have had the courage to make decisions quicker, like if it was changing companies, teams, mentors, I wish I would’ve believed in myself a bit more and not second guess triple guess every decision I made.”
What was the worst thing that happened to you when you were first building your business? What did you learn from that?
“ I had a 4 year scholarship but I dropped out so I had to pay that scholar ship, and at that time I was having my first deal that was supposed to cover that fee but a week before I closed that deal it fell through so I had to figure out another way to get the money to pay off my scholarship. I learned that you will never be 100% ready and you just figure it out as you go.”
What is your next goal for this business that you are working towards? How do you plan on achieving that?
“My goal is to make sure that everyone on my team is making at least 100,000 a year. I plan to continue to market and grow my brand and continue to pour into my team members and help them sharpen their skill set.”
To end the interview, what is one of your favorite memories with your team?
“One of my favorite memories was when I had my first ever speaking event but I didn’t tell anybody and they ended up showing up and that was very cool to see that it was more than just a team in professional relationships but actual genuine friendships and support.”
These last questions can show how building genuine relationships can help you have good people in your circle and can help you grow as a person and in your business and can equally help your partners building a stronger business
