The first half of this school year went by too quickly. One moment, we are studying our schedules; the next moment, we are taking final exams and leaving for a break. Now, as we start the new semester, many students are questioning whether they will be prepared for the new semester. Because the second half of the school year looks so different than the first half, the expectations are different, the workload is increased, and there is little excitement left from the “New Year.” Students have fewer opportunities to make mistakes, teachers are moving quickly through their curriculum, and projects are getting larger. Coping with all of these changes can be a struggle for many students; however, students can start fresh.
The second half of the school year allows all students an opportunity to reset their routines and habits. If you are struggling to keep up with deadlines or if you are not achieving the grades you want, the second yardstick of the school year is your opportunity to improve your time management. Starting now by establishing a planner to help you stay organized will help you find when you need to ask for help. The small changes you make now will lead to huge gains by the end of the school year.
