New Years is a time for change, new beginnings, and improvement. Many people create New Year’s resolutions at the beginning of the year to reach personal goals, improve their lives, health, and/or habits. The new year allows people to have a fresh start and a chance to grow.
CJ is a student here, and she has set own New Years resolution to follow this year. She says, “This year I want to get my driver’s license, and get a job”. After asking her how she plans on achieving these goals she says, “Well I have my permit test next week, and if I pass that I’m gonna buy some classes for behind the wheel training. I also want to work at Starbucks because they pay pretty well”. I asked her why she wants to achieve these goals and she said, “I don’t want to have to rely on my parents for a ride or money. I want to become more independent this year”.
Michelle, another student here also has her own New Year’s resolutions that she wants to reach this year. “My New Year’s Resolutions are to read books, go to the gym consistently, draw more, and procrastinate less”. I then asked her about her plans to achieve these goals and she said, “Visit more libraries, draw at least 10 minutes a day, go to the gym 3 times a week for an hour, and set a one hour timer for me to sit down and focus on my work”.
Overall, if you are having trouble thinking of your New Years resolution, I hope this helped you find some inspiration for yourself to start this new year off great! As Michelle said in our interview, “It doesn’t have to be new year, new you, it can be new year, better you!”
