As the last semester begins, many students start to feel the pressure of the end of the school year. They want to “finish strong”, because grades matter, deadlines are popping up, and finals are coming up! trying to Stay on top of classes is important, but not checking on yourself mentally every now and then can be a bad problem for yourself. so protecting your mental health is very essential because you can focus better on your studies!
Focus ≠ Burnout
Some students can overwork themselves and thinking that being productive means pushing themselves too much. This can lead to burnout quickly, and this can cause less concentration, and less motivation! this is why students should have a routine and separate work instead of doing it in one hour.
How should I build a Routine that works?
Having a routine can change how you work on your school work. Routines can give structure which can help with stress. A good routine can look like setting a time to do homework, having breaks in between your studies, or even looking back on your notes for a few minutes. It’s good to take breaks every now and then. So take those breaks without feeling guilty. Your brain needs to rest and process the new information.
Ask for help if needed!
Asking for help is a great way to protect your mental health. Examples like asking a teacher for an extension on an assignment, meeting with your counselor or the school therapist, or even talking to your friends can make your challenge a little more easier to manage.
Finish Strong and Finish Healthy!
The last semester isnt a race to be exhausted, it’s another semester to finish with balance and growth. Remember that protecting your mental health doesnt mean to give up on your goals for this semester, it mean giving yourself some time and the support needed to reach for your goals! Because when you take care of your mind, you’ll focus better on what needs to be done.
