We asked students and teachers: “Do you think people can truly Change because of a New Year?
With this year coming to an end, it is time to start planning for the new one and thinking what kind of person we hope to become. As the countdown begins, many students and teachers are asking themselves whether a new year can truly spark a change or is it just a tradition we tell ourselves to feel motivated. Many shared they don’t believe a new year alone is what transforms someone but rather the effort a person puts in. Ms. Lopez from our history department explains that the real growth comes from persistence saying, “I think it’s never too late, and never give up just because you didn’t succeed the first time. As long as you keep pushing and trying to achieve your goals you’re on the right track. Overall I don’t think it has to be a new year for you to change.” these inspiring words towards students emphasises that motivation doesn’t have to wait for january 1st.
Looking ahead: What is your goal for 2026?
New years is that time of year where opportunity for change and improvement comes in. Many students at Nuview are already thinking about the goals they want to chase in the new year. For some academics and athletics go hand in hand. One of our student athletes Darlene shared her focus is on both school and sports saying, “My upcoming goal for the new year is to get good grades and PR in track because if i beat my PR in track it would be a great accomplishment.” Other students shared the same excitement for improvement especially on the track. Another student athlete Elijah explained his goal with enthusiasm saying, “Hmm, do well in sports, specifically track. I want to PR and go to sub 17 because it’s awesome.” Together their goals show a strong sense of determination and a sense of growth thrill for pushing personal limits in the coming year
